The incumbent presidential candidate for the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP), His Excellency President Rtd. Brig. Julius Maada Bio will soon launch his party manifesto in Kenema ahead of the forthcoming 25th June,
2023 in multitier elections.

This information was made known recently by the National Publicity Secretary of SLPP, Lahai Lawrence Leema while responding to some latest concerns raised by a cross section of civil society activists who claim that the country civic space has shrunken under the current regime. According to the SLPP mouth piece, the manifesto contains new programmes and an agenda that will be implemented by the incumbent should the party win the forthcoming 2023 general elections.

He furthered that the party commenced the process few months ago with several eminent personalities within its rank and file appointed to serve in the committee for the putting together of a new manifesto, pointing out that the team had already completed it work and has handed over a draft
copy to the leadership of the party for approval.

The SLPP 2023 manifesto, Leema went on, is going to be different from the current ‘new direction’ manifesto, noting that President Bio has already completed and implemented up to 90% of what he promised the people of Sierra Leone in 2018.

He however disclosed that the title of the SLPP 2023 Manifesto has not yet been made public, adding that relevant party stakeholders will soon be informed about progress taking place within the party membership and the manifesto committee at large. The SLPP National Publicity Secretary further disclosed after launching the 2023 manifesto, the SLPP will ensure it is popularized nationwide for the ordinary people to understand. Among some of the key programmes expected in the new manifesto is that of health, education, ICT, Infrastructure and im- provement of social services for vulnerable people.

He concluded by urging the party membership to exercise patience, stressing that the new document will soon be launched.
