President Julius Maada Bio has appointed Dr Mustapha Kabba as Chief Medical Officer in the Ministry of Health.

The appointment was communicated in a letter dated 11 August 2026 and signed by the Secretary to the President, Barba B. Fortune.

The letter directed the Director General of the Human Resource Management Office to take the necessary steps to give effect to the President’s directive.

“Kindly take further action to give effect to this directive,” the letter stated.

Dr Kabba’s appointment places him in a key position within Sierra Leone’s health sector, where the Chief Medical Officer plays an important role in providing technical and professional leadership on public health and medical matters.

Further details on the appointment and Dr Kabba’s responsibilities are expected to emerge as he assumes the role.
