President Bio Swears in Two New Deputy Ministers Into Office
President Dr. Julius Maada Bio today, Friday, July 25, 2025, presided over the official swearing-in ceremony for Paul Hinga Tucker, the new Deputy Minister of Communication, Technology, and Innovation, and David Fortune, the new Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs. The ceremony took place at State House.
The appointments and subsequent oaths of office are mandated by Sections 68(4) and 69(2) of the 1991 Constitution of Sierra Leone, which require appointees to take a prescribed oath before assuming their official duties.
During the event, President Bio congratulated both officials, expressing his full support for their new roles.
“I look forward to supporting you both as you leverage your experience to advance our administration’s goals and improve our delivery on key initiatives,” President Bio stated.
He further emphasized the demanding nature of their responsibilities but conveyed his confidence in their ability to deliver. “Together, we can achieve meaningful progress with a strong, effective civil service,” he remarked.
President Bio underscored the critical role of the civil service in governance, highlighting the necessity of sound policy advice and professional guidance.
