President Bio Welcomes New UN Resident Coordinator
On Wednesday, January 10th, 2024, President Bio warmly received Madam Seraphine Wakana, the Newly appointed United Nations Resident Coordinator for Sierra Leone, at the State House in Freetown.
Expressing delight at the official reception, President Bio conveyed gratitude to UN Secretary-General António Guterres for appointing Madam Wakana. Highlighting her extensive background as a seasoned economist with over 28 years of experience in coordination, political engagement, economics, and development planning, President Bio emphasized her significant role in bolstering Sierra Leone’s sustainable development endeavors.
The President reaffirmed his government’s unwavering commitment to collaborating with various UN agencies operating within Sierra Leone. He underscored the collaborative efforts aimed at supporting the nation’s development priorities, aligning them with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the 2030 Agenda.
In a gesture of goodwill, President Bio extended his wishes to Madam Wakana for a fruitful tenure as the United Nations Resident Coordinator and expressed hope for her enjoyable stay in Sierra Leone.
