The Board of Directors of the US International Development Corporation has approved $217, 000, 000 to the government of Sierra Leone for the development of the energy sector.

Sierra Leone is faced with an energy challenge and most parts of the country are without electricity, especially the provinces where residents faced a series of challenges during the night hours.

The support received from the US International Development Corporation is a means of solving some of these issues as this money will be used for developing, constructing, and operating approximately 87-megawatt thermal power plants and associated infrastructure in the country.
