The crescent of Ramadan has been sighted at multiple locations in Saudi Arabia, therefore the first of Ramadan 1443 will be tomorrow the 2nd April, 2022.

Ramadan (Arabic: رَمَضَان, Ramaḍān) is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, and the month in which the Quran is believed to be revealed to the Islamic prophet Muhammad may peace be upon him.

Fasting during the month of Ramadan is one of the Five Pillars of Islam. The month is spent by Muslims fasting during the daylight hours from dawn to sunset. As it is a month of blessing, the Muslims engages in good deeds; praying for guidance, giving alms to the poor in a form of Zakat by feeding and clothing them.

According to Islam, the Quran was sent down to the lowest heaven during this month, thus being prepared for gradual revelation by Jibreel to Muhammad. Therefore, Muhammad told his followers that the gates of Heaven would be open for the entire month and the gates of Hell (Jahannam) would be closed.[1] The first three days of the next month, Shawwal, are spent in celebration and are observed as the “Festival of Breaking Fast” or Eid al-Fitr.
