Political Analyst and Station Manager of Amaze Television Channel 32, Edward Caulker, has formally resigned from his position, citing the need to protect his journalistic integrity and maintain independence from political influence.
Caulker announced his resignation in a statement shared on social media, explaining that the decision was not taken lightly but was necessary to preserve his commitment to professional journalism and remain guided by the principles of objectivity, fairness, accountability, and public interest.
“Throughout my journey in the media, I have remained committed to the belief that journalism must serve the public interest without fear, favour, influence, or compromise. As such, I believe this decision is necessary to remain true to those values,” Caulker stated.
He emphasised that his decision was aimed at safeguarding his independence and ensuring that he continues to uphold the core values of journalism without any form of external pressure or political influence.
Caulker’s resignation comes about a week after a heated exchange during a live television programme involving the National Publicity Secretary of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP), an incident that attracted widespread public discussion and mixed reactions.
The media personality, who has built a reputation as a political analyst and broadcaster, did not directly link his resignation to the on-air confrontation but maintained that his decision was based on his desire to remain committed to ethical journalism.
