Earlier today, the State funeral Service for police officers that were brutally murdered during August 10 violent anti-government protests in Freetown and Northern parts of Sierra Leone was held at the Police Training School Auditorium, Hastings.

The funeral service was graced by the President of Sierra Leone, Julius Maada Bio, First Lady, Fatima Bio, Vice President Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, the Inspector General of Police, ministers of government, senior government officials, bereaved families, the press, friends of the bereaved families and members of the public.

The six police officers were targeted and brutally murdered during the deadly protests that received local and international condemnation.

Sept. Osman Fofanah – Kamakwie Division

Born on 15th November 1973 at Kychom, Samu Chiefdom, Kambia District. Enlisted into the Sierra Leone Police Force (SLP) on 21st December, 2002. He served in various Divisions and Departments within the Sierra Leone Police Force including Lunsar Division, Freetown-East Regional Headquarters, Corporate Services Police Headquarters, Training Directorate and Kamakwie Division.

Stg. 7389 Tommy Munda – Kamakwie Division

Born on 1st January, 1970 at Sembewo Village, Bagruwa Chiefdom, Moyamba District. Enlisted into the Sierra Leone Police Force on 18th January, 1995. He worked at the Operations Support Division (OSD) Headquarters and was later transferred to Kamakwie Division in 2002.

Sgt. 6239 Desmond Hanciles – OSD Headquarters

Born on 7th July, 1978 in Freetown. Enlisted into the Sierra Leone Police Force on 15th July, 2001 and posted to the Operations Support Division (OSD) Headquarters. He served in the SLP Formed Police Unit (FPU) at the African Mission in Somalia (AMISOM). He gained a Certificate of Recognition which was awarded to him. He was attached to the OSD Headquarters.

PC 14625 Abu Bakarr Turay – North East Region HQs

Born on 21st December, 1984 in Freetown. Enlisted into the Sierra Leone Police Force on 12th November, 2010. He worked as a Discipline officer at Mongo Division, Operation officer and also a driver in the North-East Regional Head-quarters Makeni.

PC 20490 Charles E.K. Smart – Harbour Division

Born on 8th November, 1990 at Kenema District. Enlisted into the Sierra Leone Police Force on 19th October, 2019. He was an OSD personnel attached to the Regional Police Headquarters Freetown East.
Sgt. Maj, 11890 Ibrahim Jalloh – Harbour Division
Born on 24th July 1984. Enlisted into the Sierra Leone Police Force on 26th May 2004. He was deployed at the Harbor Division, Ross Road, East of Freetown.
