Sierra Leone’s Minister of Information and Civic Education, Chernor Bah, has joined the 31st AFS Youth Assembly taking place in Geneva, Switzerland, from August 12 to 14, 2026.
The Assembly, being held at the headquarters of the World Health Organisation, has brought together young leaders, policymakers and civic actors from more than 100 countries to discuss youth leadership, civic participation and responses to global challenges.
Minister Bah arrived in Geneva on Wednesday and was received by Sierra Leone’s Deputy Ambassador to Switzerland, Samuel UB Saffa.
During the three-day event, Minister Bah is expected to serve as a keynote plenary speaker and participate in a special fireside session focusing on the role of civic education in advancing youth development and empowerment.
According to information provided by the Ministry, his contributions will draw on Sierra Leone’s experience in promoting civic engagement and creating opportunities for young people to participate in discussions and decision-making processes affecting their communities and the country.
The Assembly is one of the world’s leading youth forums, providing a platform for dialogue between emerging young leaders and senior government and institutional representatives.
Minister Bah also serves as a member of the AFS Youth Assembly Global Leadership Council, which supports the Assembly’s efforts to strengthen youth participation in global governance and civic leadership initiatives.
