A suspicious 40 feet container containing illegal drugs (Narcotics) and a substantial amount of Sierra Leone’s new currency (The New Leone) has been reportedly discovered in Cline town, a community in Freetown.

According to Journalist Sallieu Tejan-Jalloh of The Sierra Leone Times Newspaper, eight men believed to be Ghanaians were arrested, placed inside a police van handcuffed and taken away on Friday when the incident happened.

“No sleep tonight as journalists and civil society are at cline town. 40′ container said to contained narcotic drugs and new currency. Indians, Ghanaian and State House implicated”, Tejan-Jalloh wrote on Facebook.

It was gathered from Youths at the scene that bags suspected of drugs was taken away in rush, which sparked suspicion by community youths who followed the option in rage but they were scared away with two live gunshots from security personnel’s.

“…We are investigating a case of alleged drug trafficking…”, Marcus Bangura, the Executive Director of Citizen’s Forum for Democratic Accountability (C4D) also confirmed the incident on social media.

As at the time of filling this report, the suspected container has been taken inside the Kingtom Police Officer’s Mess and parked very closed to a building inside the Mess while C4D, SL TIMES and journalists have been asked out of the Officer’s Mess.

“The one million question is why the container is not taking to the CID Headquarters but to Kingtom. This is a clear manifestation of the fact that security personnel are hiding something and if the container is opened in the absence of the media would be convincing that a cartel is going on.”, Bangura added.
