Judges of the Appeal Court of Sierra Leone have asked Former President Ernest Bai Koroma to file and serve his written synopsis within 21 days for oral arguments and submission on or before June 23, 2021.

This decision came about after the former president failed to appear in court because his Lawyer Joseph Fitzgerald Kamara claimed that his client was not aware of the courts sitting on May 5.

The matter before the court is that of findings and recommendations into the inquiries of the Commissions of Inquiry in relation to Former President Koroma, Samura Mathew Wilson Kamara 2018 All People’s Party Presidential Candidate, Former Attorney General and Minister of Justice Joseph Fitzgerald Kamara, and others.

Lawyer J.F. Kamara requested three weeks of adjournment in order for them to properly prepare and file their appeal arguments. Respondent counsels J.T. Freeman and E. Williams also sought the same on the grounds of other legal issues that they need to address before the next adjourned date.

Representing the Former President is Africanus Sorie Sesay, together with Joseph Fitzgerald Kamara and Ady Macauley. Lawyer Ady Macauley represents Joseph Fitzgerald Kamara and Dr. Samura Mathew Wilson Kamara and others.

Justice Adrian Fisher and Alhaji Momoh Jah Stevens are among the three panels of Judges presiding over the above COI appeal cases in Freetown.
