At the last Police Press Conference held at the police Head Quarters at George street in Freetown, The new Commissioner of Police South Hilary S Kanu, disclosed that the Bo district is calm at the moment and crime rate is gradually decreasing.

According to her, this improvement is happening because of the role the media has been playing to support their activities at that part of the country.

She mentioned instances were the Bo Media Houses supported them in arresting some criminals and in clearing their name when they were falsely accused.

She said three armed robbers had escaped and was in hiding but because of the sensitization of the media on the issue, the community people were able to capture the arm robbers and brought them to the police station.

Since then, the 14th of this month, they last recorded an arm robbery, she said no arm robbery have occurred in Bo till date.

Secondly, she said, when it was alleged that those two teachers from the Teachers Solidarity Movement, whom they had detained and released, were shot in front of their police station, the media helped to clear their name by refuting that allegations.

She ended by praising and thanking  the Media for supporting the activities of the police in helping to reduce crime in Bo district.
