The Deputy Director Teaching Service Commission in Pujehun District Lansana Rogers has raised frustration over the low turnout of teachers and pupils in schools during the first day of the official reopening of school slated for 3rd January 2023 by the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE).

He made this statement whilst visiting various secondary and primary schools in the township and its environs as poor attendance of teachers and pupils was nothing to write home about.

Director Rogers however said teachers should take their job seriously as they are paid every month for the services they are rendering by staying and teaching pupils in schools. He added that if teachers failed to do so, means they are contributing negatively towards the free quality education drive of the New Direction government of president Dr. Julius Maada Bio.

Mr. Rogers went on to say together with the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education instituted punitive measures for teachers and pupils who fail to attend schooling during the first official date of the reopening of schools.

The TSC Deputy Director reaffirmed his commitment to see a Free quality education and a sustainable one for all in the Pujehun District
Monitoring continues.
