The Director of Hospital and Ambulance Services, Ibrahim Foday-Musa, together with the Programme Manager for Child Health, Dr. Linda Farma Grant, on Thursday, July 30, held a strategic engagement with the Hospital Management Team and medical doctors at Makeni Regional Hospital as part of the Ministry of Health’s efforts to strengthen hospital leadership, improve service delivery, and advance progress under the 300 Days of Activism initiative.
The engagement provided an opportunity for the Ministry’s leadership to commend hospital management and healthcare workers for their continued dedication and sacrifices in providing quality healthcare services. The team reaffirmed the Ministry’s support for frontline health workers and its commitment to achieving the objectives of the 300 Days of Activism, particularly reducing preventable maternal and child deaths and improving the quality of care in government hospitals.
During the visit, the delegation conducted an on-the-spot staff attendance and operational assessment to evaluate workforce availability and promote accountability within the facility.
Discussions also focused on recent child mortality data, with participants identifying practical measures to strengthen paediatric care, improve clinical decision-making, and enhance patient outcomes through evidence-based interventions.
The engagement also marked the official welcome of the newly appointed Medical Superintendent of Makeni Regional Hospital, Dr. Francis Bayor, who pledged to provide effective leadership and work collaboratively with staff to further improve healthcare delivery at the facility.
The Ministry also recognised the contributions of the outgoing Medical Superintendent, who has been promoted to serve as District Medical Officer for Bonthe District, and congratulated him on his new appointment.
