ECOWAS Chairman President Bio Meets EU Commissioner Over Sahel Issues
Fatmata Grace Bangura President Julius Maada Bio, who is currently serving as Chairman of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of ECOWAS, has held talks with European Commissioner Hadja Lahbib on the situation in the Sahel region.
In a public update, President Bio said the discussion was productive and focused on the urgent challenges affecting countries across the Sahel. He also noted that both sides are committed to working more closely together to support progress in the region.
Commissioner Lahbib is responsible for Equality, Preparedness, and Crisis Management at the European Commission. The meeting comes as part of ongoing efforts between West African leaders and the European Union to respond to issues affecting the Sahel, including instability, humanitarian concerns, and cross-border threats.
