The Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL) has announced that the distribution of voter registration cards will continue at the various district offices nationwide from Monday 24th April 2023.

ECSL made this known in a press release issued today, 17 April 2023, following the end of the 10 day distribution exercise. On Sunday 16 April 2023, ECSL ended the Voter Registration Card Distribution exercise, which started on 7 April.

“The public is hereby informed that collection of voter registration cards will continue at the various district offices nationwide from Monday 24th April 2023,” the Commission stated.

ECSL further informed that they today signed contracts with 25 Civil Society Organizations (CSO’s) to strengthen Electoral Education and Sensitization on the Proportional Representation System using money donated by ECOWAS.

Also, ECSL revealed that about 2,613,655 voters have so far collected their voter registration cards.

“Provisionally, about 2,613,655 voters have collected their voter registration cards. This represents about 77% of total registered voters. This figure is provisional as not all centres were reported on during the process,” ECSL stated.

“Additionally, there were 5,205 photo less registrants, 502 mismatched and 9,061 misplaced voters. Procedures dealing with these cases were strictly followed during the exercise. These include issuing of cards and attestations and relocation voters to their correct registration centres,” the commission added.
