The Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone) is currently participating in a high-level regional conference in Dakar, Senegal, focused on “Advancing Electoral Participation of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in the Digital Era.”

The conference is organised by the United Nations Development Programme (United Nations Development Programme) and brings together Electoral Management Bodies (EMBs), disability advocates, development partners, and international stakeholders from across the region.

Discussions at the forum are centred on leveraging digital technologies to improve accessibility, transparency, and equal participation for Persons with Disabilities in electoral processes. Key areas of focus include accessible voter registration systems, assistive voting technologies, and inclusive civic education initiatives aimed at ensuring that no citizen is excluded from democratic participation.

Representing the Commission is the Electoral Commissioner for the Western Area, Mrs Zainab Umu Moseray, who is engaging with regional counterparts on innovative approaches to strengthening inclusive electoral systems.

The Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone reaffirmed its commitment to promoting inclusive, credible, and participatory elections for all citizens across the country.
