The First Lady of the Republic of Sierra Leone and President of the Organization of African First Ladies for Development (OAFLAD), Fatima Maada Bio, has departed the country for an official visit to the United Kingdom.
According to a statement, the First Lady left from the Freetown International Airport following her participation in the successful celebration of the 160th anniversary of Saint Joseph’s Convent, a milestone event marking the legacy of one of Sierra Leone’s historic educational institutions.
During her visit to the United Kingdom, Madam Bio is expected to hold a series of high-level engagements centred on her ongoing global advocacy for women and children’s rights, empowerment, and welfare.
As President of OAFLAD, she has been actively involved in advancing initiatives aimed at improving health, education, and protection for women and children across Africa, and her upcoming meetings are expected to further strengthen international partnerships in these areas.
Further details of the visit and engagements are expected to be made available in due course.
