Sierra Leone’s First Lady, Dr Fatima Bio, has joined African leaders in Luanda, Angola, on July 30, 2026, for the launch of a continental campaign focused on strengthening the resilience of women and girls facing climate change and conflict.
Dr Bio, who also serves as President of the Organisation of African First Ladies for Development (OAFLAD), arrived at the InterContinental Hotel on Thursday for the official launch of the initiative, “Strengthening Resilience for Women and Girls: Climate, Conflict and a Sustainable Future.”
According to information released on the event, the campaign seeks to promote practical, collaborative, and sustainable solutions to address the growing challenges affecting women and girls across Africa.
The launch has brought together African First Ladies, development partners, policymakers, and other key stakeholders to explore strategies for improving resilience in communities affected by climate change, conflict, and other emerging threats.
Organisers say the initiative aims to strengthen partnerships and encourage coordinated action to better protect women and girls while advancing sustainable development across the continent.
