As fuel scarcity continues to be a major challenge for weeks now across the country, the Freetown City Council garbage collection trucks have seized operations due to the unavailability of fuel.
The Mayor of Freetown Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr disclosed this information on her Facebook and promised to start operations soon.
“We regret to inform Freetonians that we are experiencing fuel access challenges and so all FCC’s sanitation vehicles have been parked at the Works Yard since Friday. We hope to fuel them today so that garbage collection can resume. We are aware that many tricycle groups (contracted for street sweeping) are also experiencing fuel access challenges and that is impacting their work too. We are committed to keeping our city clean and expect that we will be back on the road before the end of today”.
