Office of  Former President Ernest Bai Koroma, has in a press release indicated that the former president will on Saturday 2 July 2022, departs for Italy to honor the invitation from the  Brenthurst Foundation where he will join his peers from around the world, to discuss “Lessons From Peace Making” and share their unique experiences in peacebuilding and post-war reconstruction.

Former President Koroma Leaves for Italy

Makeni – 2 July 2022 At the invitation of the Brenthurst Foundation, former President of Sierra Leone,

Ernest Bai Koroma, will Saturday 2 July 2022, depart Sierra Leone for Lake Como in Italy. Former President Koroma will join his peers from around the world, including Nigeria (Olusegun Obasanjo), and Liberia (Ellen Johnson Sirleaf) representing Africa at a retreat organised by the Brenthurst Foundation and the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Foundation.

Leaders from South America include President Andrés Pastrana Arango Colombia, President Alfredo Cristiani El Salvador, and Leopoldo López – Venezuela. Ehud Barak from Israel, Ahmad Massoud, and Aziz Amin of Afghanistan will represent the Middle East.

The former leaders will discuss “Lessons From Peace Making” and share their unique experiences in peacebuilding and post-war reconstruction.

This dialogue, which also brings together policy experts, political leaders, civil society activists and diplomats, speaks to the rising anxieties about the global decline in democracy and threats to peace.

Sierra Leone’s statesman is due back home on Wednesday 6 July 2022.
