The Government of Sierra Leone, through Ministry of Transport and Aviation has announced that the new Freetown International Airport will be opened for commercial use on Saturday.

Consequently, all travellers from Sierra Leone are advised to proceed to the New Freetown International Airport using the Lungi-Port Loko highway effective Saturday 25th March, 2023,” the Transport Ministry said.

The new airport was commissioned officially earlier this month on 3rd March this year by President Julius Maada Bio.

The new airport is said to host several modern facilities that have the capability to transform Sierra Leone into a travellers’ hub and subsequently boost the country’s tourism sector.
