

Government of Sierra Leone Pays 2021-2022 First Term Tuition Fees For School-Going Pupils

The Ministry of Finance has made a total payment of le52,540,460,000.00 as tuition fess for pupils in pre-primary, primary, junior and senior secondary schools in government and in government-assisted schools for the first term of the 2021-2022 academic year.
The Ministry of Finance states that the payment was made directly into the bank accounts of beneficiary schools based based on the approved school list and enrollment data submitted by the Ministry of Basic and Senior Education.

The Ministry of Finance further informs the public that payment of 53 Senior Secondary Schools were withheld pending investigation by MBSSE and the Anti-Corruption Commission on allegation of overstating the number of candidates for the payment of WASSCE fees made to WAEC for the ongoing examinations.
Government has also paid le462 million to 15 Special needs Schools across the country for Quarter 3 of 2021, while payment for Quarter 4 of similar amount is in progress.
