The Guma Valley Water Company has announced a temporary disruption in water supply affecting parts of Freetown, citing ongoing maintenance work to fix a fault on a major transmission pipeline.
In a service disruption notice dated April 20, 2026, the company informed its customers and the general public that water supply to Area Central-covering locations between Congo Cross and the East End Police-and Area East, spanning between East End Police and Wellington, will experience low pressure or complete interruption.
According to the notice issued by the company’s management, the disruption is due to a faulty valve on the 28-inch transmission pipeline located at the Spur Road Reservoir. The company stated that repair works are necessary to restore normal water flow to the affected communities.
The statement further disclosed that maintenance work is scheduled to commence at 2:00 p.m. and is expected to last for approximately four hours, ending at 6:00 p.m. within the same day.
Management of Guma Valley Water Company expressed regret over the inconvenience caused by the disruption and assured customers that all efforts will be made to restore water supply within the stated timeframe.
