The president of Zambia, Hakainde Hichilema has Conferred the “Order of The Eagle of Zambia, 1st Division to former President, Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma for his distinguished work in Sierra Leone and in Africa.

The same honor was bestowed on former Liberia President, Madam Ellen Johnson Sirleaf and former Nigeria President, Mr. Olusegun Obasanjo.

A statement from the Zambian Presidential Spokesperson, Anthony Bwalya released yesterday states that, “President Hakainde Hichilema will today, at a special investiture ceremony to be held at State House, confer the Order of The Eagle of Zambia, I” Division, on three former Heads of State, for their outstanding work in the promotion and advancement of democracy, and the delivery of democratic dividends for citizens; both within and outside their respective countries.”

“President Hichilema has especially noted the defining roles played by each one of the recipient former Heads of State in establishing true multiparty, democratic outcomes, not only in their respective countries but also further beyond; and anchoring this as the beacon for improving the living standards of citizens.”

“The former Heads of State to be conferred with the Order of The Eagle of Zambia, 1″ Division are: His Excellency Olusegun Obasanjo, Former President of the Republic of Nigeria, Her Excellency Ellen Sirleaf Johnson, Former President of the Republic of Liberia, and His Excellency Ernest Bai Koroma, Former President of the Republic of Sierra Leone,” the statement concludes.
