The Executive Director of the Institute for Governance Reform (IGR), Andrew Lavalie has demanded that youth form 50 percent of employment in political parties.
The IGR made this request through Citizens Manifesto in a bid to avoid high unemployment rate in the country.
Lavalie said that most youth fail to question political parties with regards issues of unemployment and their solution to solve it.
He added that Sierra Leone should copy other countries in creating employment for youth. He suggested that this year’s political debate be centred around youth employment.
The IGR Executive Director also admonished that government employ an equal ratio of youth per district and region.
Lavalie also suggested that the emerging government after June 2023 elections should try to ensure they reduce the burden of traffic. He said that this could be alleviated through the introduction of traffic lights. He said this could also help reduce violence between citizens and police during demonstrations like August 10.
