The Ministry of Internal Affairs held fruitful discussions with Heads of Agencies and Departments under the purview of the Ministry.

According to the Minister of Internal Affairs Major-General (Rtd) David T.O Taluva, the
purpose of the engagement was to inform Heads of Agencies of his intentions and plans in drawing up strategies to effectively and efficiently transform the Ministry and its Agencies.

He reiterated that as a Ministry, responsible for the internal security and safety of the Country, it has a huge task in delivering security to the people of this country, adding that plans are on the way to hold security training with Heads of Agencies as a way to improve their knowledge on safety and security. He also suggested that all members should be involved in intelligence gathering and dissemination in the discharge of duties, with specific reference to lawlessness and the intake of drugs, especially kush.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Mr.Mohamed Sheick Kargbo outlined key issues on the operations of the Agencies and emphasized their roles and responsibilities which have to do with the Ministry’s oversight responsibility and its external relations, and therefore craved their indulgence for cooperation and collaboration with the Ministry.

The meeting was an interactive session, wherein Heads of agencies shared their thoughts on issues regarding their operations, activities, and challenges. They, however, applauded the Minister for his intended intentions to transform the Agencies.

Overall, the Minister admonished Heads of Agencies to liaise with the Ministry on their daily operations and activities and noted that the Ministry will respond to external challenges accordingly.
