The Minister of Gender and Children’s Affairs, Dr. Isata Mahoi, has hosted the Chief Executive Officer of Trócaire during a courtesy visit aimed at reaffirming the longstanding partnership between the Ministry and the international development organization in advancing gender equality and child protection in Sierra Leone.
The meeting focused on strengthening collaboration in promoting the rights and welfare of women, girls, and children across the country.
During the engagement, the Trócaire CEO congratulated Dr. Mahoi on her leadership and commended the Ministry for its continued commitment to protecting vulnerable groups.
He praised the Ministry for championing key legislative reforms, including the Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment (GEWE) Act 2022 and the Child Rights Act 2025, describing them as major milestones in the protection and empowerment of women and children in Sierra Leone.
In her response, Dr. Mahoi expressed appreciation for Trócaire’s continued support to the Ministry’s programmes and initiatives. She noted that the organization has remained a dependable development partner whose contributions have complemented the Government’s efforts to promote gender equality, women’s empowerment, and child welfare.
The Minister further emphasized the importance of sustained partnerships in addressing challenges affecting women and children and in building a more inclusive and equitable society.
The meeting ended with both the Ministry of Gender and Children’s Affairs and Trócaire reaffirming their commitment to deepening cooperation and strengthening joint efforts to advance child protection, gender equality, and the empowerment of women and girls throughout Sierra Leone.
