Vice President, Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh has sworn to the Oath of Office following President Julius Maada Bio’s reelection in the 24 June polls.

The ceremony took place at State House in Freetown on Thursday morning.

I first and foremost I want to thank God.

“I want to thank His Excellency for the confidence repose in me over the past five years,” Jalloh said.

He also promised serve with diligence in the final five years of Bio.

The ceremony followed Tuesday’s swearing in of President Julius Maada Bio after the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone declared him winner with 56 percent.

“With the successful conduct of the 2023 multi-tier elections, Sierra Leone stands tall among young democracies for our efforts in consolidating our democratic gains,” Bio said.

The main opposition All People’s Congress (APC) contested the result accusing the Commission of rigging.

The party’s Secretary General, Lansana Dumbuya said the result is unreflective of the choice of the majority.

Meanwhile, Bio has called on the APC Presidential Candidate, Samura Kamara to work with him.

The job ahead is enormous, but collectively, we can build the country of our dreams,” the President said.

The main opposition APC is yet to comment on the invitation from the President.
