Sierra Leonean entrepreneur and business strategist Joe Abass Bangura has been officially appointed as the new Managing Director of Sierratel, the state-owned telecommunications company.
Bangura’s appointment hopes to bring extensive experience in the telecom sector of his new role as he previously served as Chief Corporate Affairs Officer at Africell Sierra Leone. He is also a co-founder of iDT Labs, an ICT solutions provider based in Freetown.
Bangura, a Chartered Accountant and serial entrepreneur, is also known as the host of the popular “Life by Design” show. He brings with him a strong track record in business leadership, corporate development, and strategic growth.
According to the Chief Executive Officer of Africell, Shadi Gerjawi, the appointment reflects confidence in Bangura’s ability to drive innovation and reposition Sierratel within Sierra Leone’s competitive telecommunications sector.
His appointment comes at a critical juncture for Sierratel, which has faced financial and operational challenges in recent years.
