The Judiciary of Sierra Leone has announced a short recess for courts in Freetown to facilitate a training programme for judicial officers.
According to a notice issued by the Judiciary, both the High Court and Magistrate Courts in Freetown will be on recess from Monday, 4 May to Wednesday, 6 May 2026.
During this period, registries and other support offices of the Judiciary will remain open and continue normal operations.
The recess has been granted to allow judges and magistrates to participate in a three-day training on Foundational Commercial Mediation.
The programme is expected to strengthen the capacity of judicial officers in handling commercial disputes through mediation, as part of ongoing efforts to improve efficiency and case management within the justice system.
Court sittings are expected to resume following the conclusion of the training on Wednesday, 6 May 2026.
