The Judiciary of Sierra Leone has announced a temporary recess for courts across the country to enable the observance of the Sierra Leone Bar Association (SLBA) Annual General Meeting 2026.

According to a public notice issued by the Judiciary, both the High Court and Magistrates’ Courts nationwide will be on recess on Friday, 31st July 2026, while the NASSIT Court will observe its recess on Saturday, 1st August 2026.

The Judiciary, however, clarified that despite the temporary suspension of court sittings, Registries and other support offices will continue to operate normally throughout the recess period, ensuring that essential administrative services remain available to the public.

The notice stated that the recess is being observed in recognition of the Sierra Leone Bar Association Annual General Meeting 2026, a key event that brings together legal practitioners and stakeholders to deliberate on issues affecting the legal profession and the administration of justice in the country.

Members of the public with court-related matters have been advised to take note of the recess dates, while those requiring registry or other administrative services may continue to access them as usual.
