Vice President Dr Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh has held a dinner and listening session with Paramount Chiefs in Kenema District as part of preparations for the Regional Consultation on Decentralization and Local Governance.

The engagement, held on Thursday, August 13, 2026, formed part of the Vice President’s responsibilities as Chairman of the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Decentralization and provided an opportunity for him to interact directly with traditional leaders and listen to their experiences and concerns.

Dr Juldeh Jalloh said the dinner was intended to create a platform for candid discussions and to gather firsthand perspectives on the realities of local governance across the district.

Discussions focused on council-chiefdom relations, the role of Chiefdom Development Committees, and emerging concerns relating to social stability.

The engagement underscored the importance of listening to communities and traditional leaders at the grassroots level as the government seeks practical solutions to strengthen decentralization and improve local governance across the country.
