The All People’s Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Samura Kamara has reacted to the alleged attack on their newly elected Secretary General, Lansana Dumbuya.
“As I entered Freetown as the newly elected Flagbearer of APC, I’ve been informed that my Sec Gen is beaten and seriously injured by government forces at Hill Station, Freetown,” Kamara said on social media.
Dumbuya, in a video shared widely yesterday, said that presidential guards attacked and beat him and his driver at Hill Station while they were returning to Freetown yesterday evening.
The party’s secretary said the men told him that it was President Bio that sent them after he told them of his position.
The former Justice Minister and Attorney General, Joseph Fitzgerald Kamara has also criticized the attack calling on authorities to investigate the officers involved.
Yesterday, thousands of supporters of the main opposition party thronged the street of the capital to welcome their presidential flagbearer. Major junctions and intersections in the capital were crammed with supporters of the APC in their traditional red attire.
The ceremony was relatively peaceful except for a fracas that ensued in Calaba Town where some alleged rogue supporters of the party caused mayhem. The police acted swiftly and put things under control.
In other news, Samura Kamara is set to appear in court today with five other accused persons in the Sierra Chancery Building matter.
Justice Adrian Fisher is set to deliver a ruling on the no-case submission filed by defense lawyers this morning.
