The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) and the nation’s political community are in mourning following the passing of Joseph Samba Keifala, popularly known as JS Keifala.
A great figure in both sports administration and local governance, Keifala passed away recently, leaving behind a legacy of dedicated service to his country. The news has sparked a wave of tributes from football fans, politicians, and residents of Kenema, where he served with distinction.

Throughout his career in sports administration, he served as Vice President of the Football Association, Acting President of the SLFA, during which he was credited with making “indelible contributions” to the growth and professionalization of the sport in Sierra Leone.
Beyond the football pitch, JS Keifala was a prominent political leader. He most notably served as the Mayor of Kenema City, where he was known for his grassroots engagement and efforts to develop the eastern regional capital.
“May his soul rest in perpetual peace. His contributions to Kenema and our national football will never be forgotten.”
