Former President Ernest Bai Koroma has been granted permission to leave Sierra Leone for urgent medical treatment.

The approval follows a successful bail review application submitted by his legal team, seeking a ninety-day allowance for his overseas medical attention.

Justice S.O. Taylor has examined the bail conditions and authorized Former President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma, currently facing charges of Treason and others, to travel abroad for medical treatment.

Earlier reports from Sierraloaded highlighted the health challenges faced by Ernest Bai Koroma, including hypertension, diabetes, and cardiac problems. The former President’s health has deteriorated over the past two months since his alleged connection to the coup attempt.

A medical report detailing severe chest pain and the necessity for a medical procedure not available in Sierra Leone underscored the urgency of his situation, emphasizing the risk of a severe heart attack without immediate treatment.

According to the former President’s Lawyers, it’s not yet clear as to which country he will be traveling to for his medical checkup. However, Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma, is expected to appear before the court on March 6, 2024.
