Sierra Leone’s Former President, Ernest Bai Koroma met with the President of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, at the Presidential Villa Abuja on Friday, March 14, 2025.

The purpose of the closed-door meeting was not disclosed to the public.

Koroma, who is currently in Nigeria for medical treatment, had been facing charges related to an alleged coup attempt against President Julius Maada Bio’s government last year.

He has consistently denied any involvement. Despite the pending trial, the High Court granted him permission in January 2024 to travel to Nigeria for three months for medical reasons.

Koroma also recently joined Nigeria’s most influential figures at the launch of former Nigerian President Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida’s debut book, A Journey In Service.

The event, held in Nigeria, brought together a who’s who of West African leadership, marking a historic moment of reflection and camaraderie.

The high-profile occasion saw the attendance of several former Nigerian heads of state, including Yakubu Gowon, Olusegun Obasanjo, Abdulsalami Abubakar, and Goodluck Jonathan.

Current Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was also present, alongside Ghana’s immediate past president, Nana Akufo-Addo. Representing former President Muhammadu Buhari was his ex-Transport Minister, adding to the star-studded assembly.
