The Ministry of Employment, Labour and Social Security has called on all recruitment agencies operating in Sierra Leone to comply with national labour laws and international standards governing recruitment practices.
In a public notice issued on 6th August 2026, the Ministry reminded recruitment agencies that their establishment, operations, and management are regulated by the International Labour Organization (ILO) Convention 181 on Private Employment Agencies and Regulations 49 to 60 of the Employment Regulations 2023.
The Ministry said the move is aimed at strengthening compliance, particularly in the area of labour administration, while ensuring that recruitment agencies operate in line with Sierra Leone’s labour laws and global best practices.
As part of the engagement, the Ministry has invited all recruitment agencies to a meeting scheduled for Thursday, 13th August 2026, at 2:00 pm at the Ministry’s Conference Room.
The meeting will focus on key issues relating to recruitment practices and the regulatory requirements guiding the operations of recruitment agencies, with the aim of improving compliance and supporting agencies to continue their businesses within the legal framework.
