Leone Rock Metal Group (LRMG) marked this year’s International Women’s Day with a series of heartfelt initiatives that not only celebrated the women within the company but also extended a hand of support to vulnerable members of society.

The company’s celebrations focused on honoring the invaluable contributions of women in the workforce and giving back to marginalized communities in Freetown.

LRMG made a generous donation of food items and essential supplies to disabled and vulnerable individuals on the streets of Freetown. This gesture touched the lives of hundreds, highlighting the company’s deep commitment to supporting those who often go unseen.

The distribution included vital supplies such as rice, sanitary pads, onions, and Maggie cubes, bringing joy and excitement to the recipients. Visits were made to four key areas, Cotton Tree, Mountain Cut, Kissy Road, and Upgun where the donations were warmly received, creating a ripple of happiness and smiles.

The company also used this day to recognize the outstanding contributions of women within its ranks. Mbalu, the Admin Officer of LRMG, spoke about the significant role that women play in the mining industry. She praised the company for achieving 30% female representation across its subsidiaries and headquarters, aligning with President Julius Maada Bio’s national quota for women in leadership. “The company has set an inspiring example by supporting gender equality, and we are proud to be part of an organization that champions women’s empowerment,” Mbalu remarked.

Alvian Sesay, the youngest woman at LRMG and its Editor, shared her personal journey of growth within the company. Grateful for the opportunities provided to her, she spoke highly of the supportive work environment that has allowed her and other women at LRMG to thrive professionally and personally. “I am thankful for the support and empowerment that has been afforded to me,” said Alvian. “The opportunities I’ve received here have made a significant difference in my life, and I encourage all women to pursue their dreams and embrace the power of equality.”

One of the highlights of the day came from Fatu Fofanah, a recipient of the donations, who expressed her heartfelt gratitude. “LRMG was the only company that reached out to us on this special day,” she said. “On behalf of my colleagues, we are deeply thankful and reaffirm our commitment to working toward the betterment of our communities.”

The day’s celebrations also featured various events designed to highlight the hard work, leadership, and dedication of women in Sierra Leone. These activities underscored the critical role that women play not only within the mining sector but in all industries. The company’s dedication to equality and empowerment serves as an inspiration to others, showing how businesses can foster inclusive environments that celebrate diversity and promote sustainable growth.

Through its actions on International Women’s Day, Leone Rock Metal Group reinforced its commitment to both empowering women and uplifting communities in need. By investing in its workforce and supporting vulnerable individuals, LRMG is setting an example of corporate social responsibility, equality, and the power of giving back.
