On Thursday, 2nd July 2026, President Julius Maada Bio commissioned the new headquarters of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Commission in Abuja, Nigeria.
In his capacity as Chairman of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of ECOWAS, President Bio led the ceremony, which marked a significant milestone in the region’s efforts toward deeper integration and institutional strengthening.

The commissioning of the new headquarters represents a major step forward for the West African bloc, reflecting tangible progress in advancing economic cooperation, regional unity, and good governance among member states.
This development marks the start of a new chapter for ECOWAS, reinforcing our commitment to economic prosperity, collaboration, and democratic values across the region.

The landmark event also underscores renewed determination among West African leaders to strengthen regional institutions and accelerate efforts to achieve sustainable development and stability within the community.

ECOWAS is not for the betterments of its constituent citizens; it is for the protection and sustenances of undesirable errant leaders perpetuating criminal misappropriations we are plagued with. PRAYERS WILL NOT HELP US.
