Minister of Communication Engages ICT Cadre Staff in One-Day Strategic Meeting
The Ministry of Communication, Technology and Innovation held a one-day meeting with ICT Cadre staff from across the government at the Civil Service Training College in Freetown.
The session was led by the Honourable Minister, Salima M. Bah.
The engagement’s aims were centered on reforms, accountability, and a unified approach to digital governance.
In her address, Minister Salima M. Bah called for stronger collaboration and harmonisation of government digital services across all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies.
She expressed concern over the fragmentation caused when institutions build digital solutions in silos, often without the knowledge or guidance of the Ministry.
“We must build together, not in isolation. Every digital solution must align with national goals and follow a shared standard.”
She also issued a stern reminder that all digital platforms and services developed under government supervision are intellectual property of the Government of Sierra Leone and must not be held or exploited for personal gain.
The Minister further emphasised the urgent need for capacity building, noting that many service delivery gaps stem from skills deficits. She announced that the Ministry will review the current management structure, and future training opportunities will be awarded strictly on merit.
Finally, the Minister assured the cadre of an open-door policy, inviting staff to reach out directly, whether in person or virtually, on any matter related to digital solutions and innovation.
