Sierra Leone’s Minister of Information and Communications, Mohamed Rahman Swaray has debunked allegations made by the new National Secretary General of the All People’s Congress (APC) party, Lansana Dumbuya that President Julius Maada Bio is responsible for the physical attack on him.
These claims made by the Secretary General of the main opposition party in the country came after he was allegedly attacked and beaten by the security personnel of the president around Hill Station in Freetown on Wednesday 22 November 2023.
In an interview with AYV TV on Thursday, Minister Sawaray vehemently denied the claims made by the new Secretary, noting that his statements were unfortunate as a legal luminary.
The Minister added that the newly elected APC Secretary General Lansana wrongfully accused President Bio by saying that he ordered his bodyguards to beat him up.
“It was very unfortunate and total dishonesty on the Part of Lansana Dumbuya to put up such fabricated lies. As a leader, you should be exhibiting the good character of truth instead of putting on a cheap political game like this,” he asserted.
The Information Minister added that President Bio is a respected leader who believes that every citizen in the country has the Constitutional ‘right to associate’ with any political party of his choice in Sierra Leone.
