The Minister of Information and Communications, Mohamed Rahman Swarray has officially opened the second ministerial steering committee meeting on the Amilcar Cabral Submarine Cable Project at the Atlantic Lumley hall in the nation’s capital, Freetown.

The project will seek to strengthen the digital backbone needed for the national development in the country to help put to rest most of the digital problems faced by the country at recent times.

The minister said that, having a single submarine cable is a risk the nation cannot afford, and that it is better to have it backed up for which an addition is highly needed.

“An additional cable brings to improve efficiency of the broadband market,’’ he noted.
