Sierra Leone’s Minister of Health, Dr. Austin Demby, has mobilised over USD 800 million for the Global Financing Facility’s Transform 2030 Investment Round on the margins of the World Bank Spring Meetings.
At the Mayflower Hotel, sovereign donors, development partners, and global health leaders gathered to advance discussions on pandemic preparedness and global health security.
During the meeting, Dr. Demby renewed his call for sustained and predictable investment in country-led health systems.
He also championed the GFF’s “4 A’s” framework: Alignment, Acceleration, Accompaniment, and Accountability.
Dr. Demby stressed that sustained global partnerships and innovative financing remain essential to strengthening national systems and ensuring rapid responses to future health emergencies.
He further emphasized that country ownership is the cornerstone of effective financing, urging partners to invest in resilient and accountable systems.
“This milestone reinforces Sierra Leone’s leadership in global health and its commitment to equitable access for women, children, and adolescents,” he stated.
