Government Moves to Reclaim State Land in York Village
Sia Lucy Kannah The Ministry of Lands, Housing, and Country Planning has issued a public notice, dated March 12, 2025, informing the general public that a parcel of land located in York Village, Western Area Rural commonly referred to as the “King’s Yard” is State Property.
The government is committed to reclaiming this land for national use. As such, any individual or institution claiming ownership of any portion of the land is required to submit all relevant documents to the office of the Deputy Director of Surveys and Lands within 21 days, from March 12 to April 1, 2025.
The Ministry will review and verify all submissions, and acknowledgment receipts will be issued pending further actions.
In the meantime, a STOP WORK NOTICE has been issued on all development activities on the land. Any individual or entity found violating this directive will be arrested and prosecuted for trespassing on State Property.
To ensure compliance and protect the area, security personnel have been deployed to enforce this notice.
