The Minister of Gender and Children’s Affairs, Dr. Isata Mahoi, has confirmed on her Facebook page that the missing infant from Ola During Hospital has been located in Segbwema.

The announcement follows information received from the Inspector General of Police, Fayia Sellu, who reported that the child is being transported back to Freetown.

The newborn had gone missing on June 6, prompting a nationwide search supported by a reward of 100,000 leones offered by the Sierra Leone Midwives’ Association and the Sierra Leone Nurses Association.

Dr. Mahoi shared that the child was found in the custody of a woman who claimed to have taken the infant from another individual. Both the child and the caretaker are currently en route to Freetown, with further details expected to be released by the relevant authorities.

In a bid to enhance security and prevent future incidents, Inspector General Fayia Sellu recently installed CCTV cameras at the PCMH hospital, specifically in the maternal care department.
