Mayor Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr has revealed that the Freetown City Council (FCC) uncovered missing funds within its billboard department as of November 2024. She made this disclosure during her appearance on the “Good Morning Salone” program on AYV TV.

The revelation follows allegations that the FCC deposited NLe 200,000 into an illegal account established in 2017, raising serious concerns about financial oversight within the council.

In response, the FCC has set up an internal investigation committee to scrutinize the issue and ensure accountability within the organization.

The council has also reported its findings to the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) and is fully supporting the ACC’s investigation into the alleged misconduct.
