Three senior staff from Sierra Leone’s National Election Watch (NEW) were inverted by three different international observers missions to observe Nigeria’s elections that were held on 25 February 2023.
The observers include the Chairperson of NEW who was invited by the International Republican Institute (IRI) mission, the Regional Coordinator for Western Area who joined the Ecowas – Cedeao Mission, and the Quality Assurance officer with the West Africa Democracy Solidarity Network.
Nigeria is one of the most populated nations in West Africa with a population of about 219,655,921 people. Over 90 million people cast their votes on Saturday to elect for various positions in the country.
NEW is an independent election observing body in Sierra Leone which has strived to promote democracy before during and after elections in the country.
It also helps in the promotion of credible free and fair elections which has made their work to be recognized in the country and beyond.
