NMSA Signs Major Supply Agreements to Improve Medicine Access
Sia Lucy Kannah The National Medical Supplies Agency (NMSA) has signed two-year Long-Term Cost Recovery Framework Agreements with Angel Biogenics PVT Ltd, BioLab SL Ltd, Tobinco Pharmaceuticals, and Entrance Pharmaceuticals and Research Center to strengthen the procurement and availability of essential medicines and medical consumables in Sierra Leone.
The agreements establish product specifications, prices, quality requirements, delivery conditions and other supply terms in advance, allowing NMSA to place authorised orders as commodities are required under the redesigned Ministry of Health Cost Recovery Scheme.
The framework agreements are expected to improve the predictability, efficiency, quality and accountability of medicine procurement while supporting the timely replenishment of essential medical commodities.
Speaking during the signing ceremonies, NMSA Managing Director Jatu Josephine Abdulai emphasised the importance of transparency, collaboration and continuous improvement in implementing the agreements.
“I hope for an honest and smooth partnership between NMSA, Angel Biogenics, BioLab SL Ltd, Tobinco Pharmaceuticals, and Entrance Pharmaceuticals and Research Center,” Abdulai said.
The agreements form part of NMSA’s broader efforts to establish sustainable procurement mechanisms and strengthen the continuous availability of quality-assured medicines and medical supplies for health facilities across Sierra Leone.
