The biggest petroleum company in Sierra Leone, NP (SL) Limited has revealed that they have brought in 12,000 metric tons of petrol (PMS) to cushion the current fuel challenges in the country.

NP made this revelation in a statement issued on Sunday, 18 December 2022, amid long queues and gatherings of motorists and other consumers in fuel stations across the country.

“The Management of NP (SL) Limited wishes to announce to all its customers that the vessel bearing fuel as announced in the NP public notice dated 12th December, 2022 has landed. NP has delivered on its promise of making fuel available to its customers,” NP stated.

NP added that, “The vessel contains over 12 thousand metric tons of petrol (PMS) for NP SL and will cushion the effect of the current fuel situation in the country.”

They disclosed that the vessel has landed safely and has fulfilled all protocols as per the Petroleum Regulatory Agency (PRA).

“Before the arrival of this vessel a first vessel arrived with over 18 thousand metric tons of diesel (AGO),” the company noted.

According to NP, these deliveries will ensure fuel availability till next year, adding that other vessels with products imported by NP SL are expected over the next two to three weeks.

NP went on to reassure all their customers that they are committed to delivering on their promise of supplying fuel to the nation.

“NP (SL) Limited will continue to do its best to ensure that petroleum products are available in all NP and NP strategic partner stations,” they noted.

In recent weeks, there have long queues in NP and other petrol stations across the country, as desperate private and commercial riders scrambled for fuel. NP had however assured Sierra Leoneans of the arrival of fuel to serve them during the festive season and beyond.
